Tension Control Bolt
Tension Control Bolt
Tension Control Bolt (TC Bolt) is a high-strength fastener used for steel-to-steel connections, often preferred over large hex bolts for demanding applications. These bolts have a dome-shaped head that cannot be driven with ordinary tools, providing precise tension control.
TC Bolts are perfect for applications that require precise tension control, such as bridges, towers, and other massive constructions. They are tightened with a torque wrench or a specific instrument, and the tension is measured with a tension meter. The end of the shank contains a spline that a special power wrench may engage, preventing the bolt from rotating as the nut is tightened. Once the appropriate tension is reached, the spline shears off, confirming the correct installation.
These heavy-duty bolts provide reliable and consistent tension, making them essential for high-strength, critical applications in steel frame construction.
