Shear Stud

Shear Stud

Shear Stud, also known as Shear Connector, is used in stud welding to form a shear connection between steel and concrete, therefore effectively fastening framed buildings. In composite construction, these studs guarantee that steel beams and concrete slabs function flawlessly by transferring forces between them, increasing the structure’s strength and stability.

This is how it works:

  1. Welding: The shear studs are welded onto the top of the steel beam
  2. Concrete Pouring: The concrete slab is poured around the shear studs.
  3. Bonding: As the concrete hardens, it adheres to the shear studs, forming a strong mechanical link.

This connection enables the steel beam and concrete slab to function as a single, stronger unit, sharing loads and stresses. The studs prevent the concrete and steel from sliding apart under load, ensuring they work together effectively.
