Step Bolt

Step Bolts are specifically designed for use as climbing steps on steel communication and electrical transmission towers. Typically provided with two A194 grade 2H heavy hex nuts, one nut is tightened against the thread run out, ensuring secure installation. The unthreaded shank, or step length, usually ranges from 6″ to 10″.

Step Bolts are also used to fasten wood to wood and wood to metal, similar in design to carriage bolts but with a wider, lower-profile round head. This design prevents the bolt from pulling through soft wood, making them ideal for wood connections such as decking.
